Caitlin Dolan

Dissertation advisors: Hannah Ginsborg and Alva Noƫ

(B.A., summa cum laude, NYU, 2009) Caitlin works primarily on the philosophy of mind, in particular issues surrounding the relation between perception and knowledge, the ability to create and use representations of various kinds, and the nature of “sensible qualities” like colors and sounds. She is interested in contemporary debates on these topics, as well as in how they figure in early Modern and early analytic philosophy. Her dissertation explores the sense in which depiction is a distinctively visual form of representation.
