“Human Selves and the Good”

Some people might doubt whether the naturalistic theory of the good I develop in “Animal Selves and the Good” can capture the richness of the idea of the human good at all. In this paper I will show how once we correctly understand what is distinguishes human life from other forms of life, we can also account for the differences between human good and what is good for the other animals, as well as differences about what things can be worth dying for.
