Student Groups
Cal Philosophy Forum
The Cal Philosophy Forum meets every week for a student-led presentation and philosophical discussion. It’s a great way to meet other students interested in philosophy and gain experience presenting your ideas and leading a discussion. Information about how to get involved can be found at CalLink.
The Idealist Journal
The Idealist is an undergraduate philosophy journal published by students in the department. (The journal was formerly called Harvest Moon.) If you are interested in getting involved, contact the editors at berkeleyanidealism@gmail.com. If you would like to submit a paper to the journal, see the call for papers.

Minorities and Philosophy
UC Berkeley’s MAP chapter is a space for students who are committed to diversifying the discipline to talk and work together to advance equity and diversity. The group meets regularly and works on projects that are of interest to its members. In the past, our projects have included outreach to high schoolers about philosophy, syllabi diversification, and establishment of a for-credit Buddhist philosophy course for philosophy majors.
If you’d like to get involved or be added to the mailing list, email us at mapatcal@gmail.com.
Cosmopolitan Philosophy at Berkeley
Cosmopolitan Philosophy at Berkeley is a student group dedicated to discussing philosophy from non-western and historically-marginalized philosophical traditions! We invite philosophers over Zoom to present and discuss their research on non-western/historically-marginalized philosophy. We invite philosophers working in Africana, Asian, Latin American, and Indigenous philosophical traditions!
We meet every Wednesday from 6-8 PM PST. Usually, the first hour is for the presentation, and the second hour is for Q&A and discussion. You can join us either through Zoom or in-person at Evans 47. Everyone is welcome!
If you have any questions (or want to know the Zoom link), please email us at cosmopolitanphilosophyberkeley@gmail.com. We hope to see you here!
