I was an undergraduate at Harvard and have a Ph.D. in English from Berkeley. I then left the academic world for the investment business and spent fifteen years managing a hedge fund in San Francisco. I retired eight years ago, in part because of a book I wanted to write on the topic of financial creativity and what that has in common with other kinds of creativity. I’m particularly interested in the possibilities and limits of corporations in creating value.
