Drawing on philosophical insights from Aristotle as well as empirical research on motivation, passion, and flow, I argue for the following. Who you are is a function of what you love. And the way to flourish is to pursue what you love for its own sake, thereby enabling these other goods: internal harmony, self-expression, a distinctive kind of enjoyment, and greater chances for distinguished achievement — especially in creative endeavors.
