3 Philosophy of Mind Benjamin MTuWTh 9-11 TBA

This class will provide an introductory level overview of the major contemporary developments in the metaphysics and epistemology of mind, with special emphasis on whether these developments are compatible with the existence of divergent cognitive types and divergent modes of mindreading. Philosophical concepts include behaviorism, physicalism, functionalism, the problem of other minds, personal identity, and perception. Atypical cognition concepts include masking, selective mutism, sensory processing, central coherence, and alexithymia. The structure of the class will accommodate divergent attentional and cognitive styles with frequent optional breaks and paper-prompt choices.
