(Ph.D., Princeton University). She retired in July of 2016 but returned to service in July of 2019 to begin a two-year term as the Executive Dean of the College of Letters & Science. She is a scholar of 17th- and 18th-century philosophy, with a special interest in skepticism. She is author of Descartes’s Method of Doubt, and she is currently working on a Hume project.
